About Bellydance Evolution

Bellydance Evolution is a world fusion dance theatre company founded and led by choreographer and artistic director Jillina Carlano. Built on the belief that bellydance is one of the most versatile and underestimated art forms in the world, BDE has spent nearly two decades pushing the boundaries of what dance theatre can be — weaving movement traditions from across the globe into full-scale theatrical productions with original scores, elaborate costumes, and stories that demand to be told. From Immortal Desires to The Jungle Book, Alice in Wonderland to Dark Side of the Crown, each BDE production has toured internationally, performing for audiences in more than 20 countries. Swan Lake is our most ambitious work yet — and we're glad you're here for it.

Destiny Marie Hernandezez

Destiny Marie Hernandez is a multi-talented, 12th generation lineal descendant of the Payaya Clan of the Tap Pilam Coahuiltecan (Qua-Wheel-Tekcan) Nation. With roots planted deeply in Yanaguana, “Land of the Spirit Waters” (Pajalate), with homestays in Miami, Florida (Seminole Territory), Destiny proudly identifies as a “Coahuiltecan Tejana.” Destiny started dancing competitively at the age of 5, while attending Magnet Dance Middle and High School programs in Florida; finding a love for movement, rhythm, and culture. Soon after, Destiny expanded her palette for dance by learning and practicing jazz, tap, ballet, salsa, acro, hip hop, contemporary, and other ethnic forms of dances. Destiny later formally studied Dance Education at Broward College in Broward County, Florida. While at the University of Miami (FL), Destiny was Captain of the Miami Hurricanettes Dance Team. Today, Destiny leads the Fancy Shawl Troupe of the American Indians in Texas Dance Theatre and is also a company member of the professional cast for the world-renowned Bellydance Evolution.
